Hi,

I need to combine HDV footage shot on a Sony with 30fps with footage shot on a RED ONE in 24fps. The guy I am getting the footage from thinks using the Apple Pro Res 4.22 HQ will be the best solution.
Please confirm or suggest otherwise. The final product will be SD DVD.

As far as I know, the only way to work with Red footage in FCP, is to use the ProRes 422 (HQ) codec.

We have been working with RED footage for some time now, the Apple ProRes 422 codec is indeed the best way to go, also for HDV footage.

Can anyone explain the difference between the old AIC and Pro Res, right now I am working with Studio 1 and don't use Pro Res, the AIC looks pretty good but I am having real problems with pans and even with people walking through the frame?

That helped but I was hoping that someone might know the difference between AIC and ProRes. Just curious.

Ronny, Are you referring to Pro Res 422 or 422HQ with the Red One?

Hi Steve,

ProRes 422 HQ if the final delivery is HD broadcast master or for film transfer. ProRes 422 if the delivery format is anything else.
