Can I assume that you want to make a SD from this video? Export from FCP as a QT (not with conversion), make self contained.

In DVD SP Prefs > General tab, you need to set your SD DVD display mode to 16:9. In the Graphical View, click on the menu. In the Inspector, set display mode to 16:9.

Ken,
Now that I am viewing both DVD's of HVX200 footage, 1 made with DVDSP and the 2nd made with iDVD. I noticed that
the iDVD version looks better and is not interlaced.

I looked for a while on how to de-interlace my footage in DVDSP since the original footage is not interlace it is 720p.

What am I missing???

Thanks Ken,

John

Hi John,

Normally it's the other way around.

Okay, what is the length of your video? Did you export from FCP as QT self contained, use current settings, and then use that QT export in both DVD SP (Compresor) and iDVD?

The SD DVD format was created for interlaced CRT TV. You should not see a difference between the two. Did you test both disks on the same DVD player and TV?

What were your bit rate settings in Compressor, VBR? Dual pass ?

Ken, Sorry for the delay, I wasn't able to get back to the DVD for the last few days.

The video is 10min long. I exported from FCP / self contained/ using current settings.

I then brought the self contained QT right into DVDSP, and did the same with iDVD.

I tested them both on my HDTV / sharp and with a sony playstation 3.

Still don't know what I'm doing wrong???

Should I of used compressor before DVDSP???

Thanks Ken,

john

Field Order is Auto
Mode: One Pass VBR

Motion Estimation: Best

This is what DVDSP is set to on my system. It should be default, I never change any of this or ever had to.

Thanks Ken.
