What is it best to export and compress your edit when using Final Cut Pro? How is it done?

Thanks

The answer to your question totally depends on your delivery method. In other words, why are you exporting? For DVD? For web delivery? For file-based delivery? For broadcast?

Each destination will have a different workflow and settings.

It'll be for ripping it to disc.

No, sorry about that. It'll go onto disc, the opposite.

For DVD delivery, export from FCP as a QuickTime self-contained or reference movie (File->Export->QuickTime Movie) - do NOT use QuickTime Conversion.

Import the resulting file into Compressor where you will choose a DVD preset based on the duration time of your program. Compressor will produce two files: an MPEG-2 video file (.m2v) and a Dolby Digital audio file (.ac3).

Import the two files produced by Compressor into a DVD Studio Pro project for authoring and burning.

Huh? Are you saying your source material for editing is ripped from a DVD ... or what?
