manage render files

getting a "Render error: insufficient disk space" when trying to render audio for my next FCP project.
I understand I need to purge some render files. But what does it mean exactly? am I gonna loose some work I've done by doing so? for any render file I render, can I just re-render later?
If you use the Render Manager (Tools > Render Manager) to remove your render files you will be safe. Just re-render when you need to and everything will be OK.
There is just one little thing you should be aware of:
If during your edit you have used and rendered effects, filters or transitions from a try-out version of an effects package (such as Noise Industires, BCC, Sapphire etc.) you will lose all these effects, filters and transition after throwing away the render files after the try-out period, unless you have purchased the efects package in the meantime.
Best wishes,
Ronny
It sounds like you have let your media drive fill up way too much. For best performance with FCP and your mac, you should allow for 20% overhead in all you drives.
happy editing,
