Is there a way to burn short HD content (say 2 minutes or less) to a DVD and have it play back on a Blu-ray player... in HD? Not interested in HD-DVD, it must play back on a Blu-ray player. This is what the customer demands.

Yes. You'll need a BluRay burner and blank BluRay disc(s), and Toast 9 or Adobe Encore for authoring and burning.

You cannot burn a BluRay compatible disc to a regular DVD disc.
