Re: DVDSP Video Settings

DVDSP Video Settings (April 21, 2014 10:24AM) Rogue2x
Hi,

Im relatively new to using DVDSP and have been running into issues with finding the proper preferences/settings. Initially i have having issues with the menu looking pixelated/distorted. After reading another article on this site i switched my preferences to SD DVD but kept the resolution at 1910 x 1080i which was the initial size of the video from FCP. This actually cleared up all issues with distortion on my menu/text but the video segments are now too large for a standard disc size.

I guess im just trying to figure out which settings will work best on here making the video optimum quality but small enough to fit on a standard DVD. Should i run it through Compressor? Encode with DVDSP? Keep SD DVD but lower the video size?

Any help here would be appreciated thx so much.

also...Here's the last error code i received where the video was too large:

The answer is in your post, ie
"Build Warning: Compiled project is 1916.5 MB too large for currently selected disc media. "
You need to use a double layer burnable disc. For the Mac DVD+R DL works best, and you will have to learn about choosing a layer-break point. Read up first, to avoid serious frustration.

Thanks Alexander much appreciated...b/c this is a commercial project however i need to format the footage to fit on a standard disc. Its only approx a 45 min video so i know theres a setting out there for it...just trying to keep quality but encode it to fit.

Right now im using compressor to encode so hoping maybe that helps.

thx again .

Test using lower compression rates, and wear the quality loss.
