Slice X for Fake Wound Tracking (July 21, 2014 05:32AM) philsfilm
Hi Ken,

I am in mid-project in FCP 7 and have a scene where I need to soften the edges of a prosthetic wound applied to an actor's cheek. He is moving his face so I need to track the wound. 1) Would CoreMelt Slice X (Mocha) be the application to to this?
2) Will it run in FCP 7? The website promos only mention FCP X which I am in the process of learning but this project is in FCP 7.

Thanks,
Phil

Slice X will not run in FCP7 , however you can send to MOTION and track it thereā€¦

Motion has pretty good tracking so you could apply tracking to a Mask shape.

all the best

OK, that answers that. I'll try Motion.

Great minds think alike.

Hey Phil,

Yes Slice X/Mocha would be perfect for doing this. As the name indicates, Slice X only works with FCP X.

If you have Motion you can send your FCP clip to Motion and do the tracking/softening in there.

Best wishes,

Ronny

Or Ronny, if I open up FCP X with Slice X, could I import the clip, use Slice to soften the edges, then export a QT movie of the scene and cut into my FCP 7 project?

Yes, that would be a great idea.
