ingesting native 1080i as 720p

Greetings all. Been a while.

I am setting up 30 imacs in a teaching lab ( 2009s with FCP 2 ). 90% of my cameras will be shooting 1080i.

I would like to set all 30 macs to ingest ( Log and Transfer ) at 720 30P.

1080i just increases file size, and finished projects always end up being scaled down to 720 for Vimeo-You Tube.


Are there any issues in the 1080i to 720 P ingest?
Slow transfer, Aspect change etc?

I am not overly concerned with perfect quality, just a smooth, fast, hassle free work flow.
Happy to ingest and edit in 1080i, and scale later, if needed.
