tutorial to create DVD from a project in FCP X

I switched from FCP 7 to FCP X and don't have DVD SP on this machine. I am running OS 10.9.4 and FCP X 10.1.2 I have compressor 4 and I movie. ( which I am not familiar with. I used work with DVD SP. )
I tried to export my 15 minute project with the share function to a DVD and the quality reminds me of a TV we had in the 70th.
I am looking for a step by step tutorial how to export this video to standard DVD in the best quality possible. I did notice that the quality of the video looks very low in my view window as well, and I am not sure why, it seems very grainy. It could be the gain on the camera, but I didn't expect it to look this bad. The footage was filmed with a Canon XHA1 and transferred by importing it into FCP 7 and then exporting it as an .mov file before I was able to import it into this computer.
