FCP 7 QUESTION

FCP 7 QUESTION (November 05, 2014 07:44AM) jrosson
Ken, Folks,

Have a big project involving time lapse -- and would like to copy/paste the duration of a clip from one to hundreds of clips.

I have googled, but not found an answer.

Is this possible?

Thank you,
JR

You can't copy and paste duration, AFAIK. However, you CAN set a duration to multiple clips.

Select all the desired clips. Once they're selected, right-click them and choose the duration field from the pull-out menu. Enter desired time (for that many clips, and the fact that you say you're making a time-lapse video, I presume you'll want to just enter "1" for one frame) and click "OK."

If the duration comes out wrong, be sure the entire Duration field was selected when you type 1, otherwise you may only have changed one digit in a full input field. For example, if all your thousands of files are still images from a DSLR, they may have come in as 10-second clips. So "duration" will open up as 00:10:00;00 be careful not to accidentally change it to 00:10:00;01. You want to set it to "00:00:00;01" so each of the clips becomes one frame long.
