Adding transition collapses audio/video

Ronny,
I expanded audio/video to let the audio start before the video starts. But, when I add a transition to the video, it collapses the a/v so the audio doesn't start before the video. What is the proper proceedure?

Hi Trig,
You are doing this on a clip that is connected to the primary storyline. That's fine, but in that case you need to add a gap before the video (select the top of the black bar and press Ctrl+W to insert a gap at the start of the clip). Then you can extend the audio before the video transition (see screenshot 1).
A much easier way for doing this is to overwrite the connected clip to the storyline (select the connected clip and press CTRL+CMD+Down Arrow), then you can add transitions and you can extend your audio as much as you wish (see screenshot 2).
Best wishes,
Ronny
