Hi Mitchell,

When you have checked the "create optimized media for muliclips" option in the Playback Preferences FCP X will automatically create optimized media as soon as you create a multicam clip (see screenshot).

You can safely delete the optimized media right within FCP X if you wish. Select the Library in the browser and choose File > Delete Generated Library Files. This will open a window in which you can choose what media you want to delete. To make the Library as slim as possible you can choose to delete all Render files along with all Optimized and Proxy media (see screenshot 2). The edit will still work perfectly with just the original media.

Before you send a Library to an external editor it is always a good idea to consolidate the Library to make sure that all the media for your production will effectively be sent to the other editor.

Best wishes,

Ronny
