Re: transfer HD cassette to fcp7

Been long time since I edited anything, can't even find forums on Apple, so I hope someone can give me a hint. Anyways, I shot DV cassette with HD 1080i Z5U Sony camera and want to transfer to FCP7. There seems to be several different connections and of course the one I have doesn't fit the camera.

The Z5 has firewire - or going by Sony's name for that "iLink". That is the connection FCP looks for when capturing from tape. Be careful though. Connect your camera and computer whilst FCP is not running. Turn the camera on and put it into VTR mode. Only then launch FCP and when you go to log and capture you should see the camera. If you don't do things in that order it wont work.
