Hi Mitch,

There is a known issue with a few FxFactory plugins in 10.2. You can disable every FxFactory plugin inside the FxFactory application. Maybe that's a good place to start.

PFS plugins are also notorious for causing issues because these plugins never get updated by the vendor. That's also a good place to look.

Best wishes,

Ronny

Ironic that you experienced a problem with the update, Mitchell, since you had expressed apprehension about the update.

Ronny, do you see any conflicts between 10.2 and the CoreMelt plugins like SliceX, Lock and Load and Tracker?

Thanks,
Phil

Hi Phil,

Coremelt have updated their plugins, make sure you run the latest version. Everything working fine here.

Ronny

Hi Ronny,

How do I know? I purchased my SliceX with Mocha in November 2014 just after I got FCP X. The Lock and Load is the same version that I ran with FCP 7 purchased in 2011. CoreMelt told me that it would be compatible with X. Also, I have Neat Video purchased in February of 2015.

Do you suggest that I contact them?

Thanks,
Phil

Latest NeatVideo plugin update is 3.6.1 from January 2015.
Says FCPX 10.1.3 and later and Yosemite compatible.

I haven't actually used it in 10.2 but FCPX does open and run fine.

Most recent CoreMelt update is for SliceX/TrackX dated 20 April so they've had one more update since 10.2. I believe this added third party color plugin tracking support. Lock&Load 13 April.

Thanks for correcting this, Craig. I have given up on Neat a long time ago. Was much too slow for me. Is the updated version any faster?

Best wishes,

Ronny

Yes, Ronny, Neat Video is slow but IMO it does a terrific job. Its noise reduction has saved several scenes for me.

I agree, and I have used it a lot in the DV times. But I don't need denoising as much anymore as in those days.

Best wishes,

I haven't used it since last year some time myself. I had to shoot some unanticipated standups at night with only a street light for illumination. It was only 5 or 6 two minute clips so it was worth the wait.
Re: 10.2 sadness (April 22, 2015 12:23PM) philsfilm
It cleaned up half a dozen scenes from a 25 minute film that I shot with a Canon 5D Mark III in a very dark room with no artificial lighting and a very high ISO. Neat Video did a terrific job. Since each clip was only about 2 to 3 seconds long, there was not a long wait.

All preferences or just FCP preferences?

Did you ever figure out which prefs were the guilty ones? Or did you just kill all the suspects?

Complain to Ken about the thread going out of order. I see that a lot with long ones.

This worries me. I'm running a mid-2011 iMac with Yosemite. Everything is running fine as is and I'm not looking for trouble. :-(
Re: 10.2 sadness (April 22, 2015 01:39AM) ronny courtens
As with every update of any application there can be different factors leading to issues. As to 10.2 I can only relate to what I see on the different forums I frequent. At FCP.co (with 7000 registrated FCP X users) I have seen some 20 posts mentioning some issue with updating. At FCP X Editors (Facebook group with 13000 registrated users) I have seen some 30 posts about issues. So all in all I think this is a very safe update.

Best wishes,

Two more questions, Ronny:

I downloaded the CoreMeltSliceXAndTrackX dmg.
Should I install it before upgrading to 10.2? BTW, I am only running SliceX, not Track X. Does it make a difference?

Thanks,
Phil
Re: 10.2 sadness (April 22, 2015 01:59AM) ronny courtens
You can install the update after having updated to 10.2. SliceX and TrackX run the same installers, it doesn't make any difference.

Best wishes,

Ronny

Thanks, Ronny. But from what I've been reading here. something tells me that the CoreMelt plugins are not causing the problem..

If they are updated to the latest version they work fine.

Best wishes,
