FCP 7.0.3 not opening past projects

Hi, all —

I'm in a bit of a panic here as I'm starting to get errors in FCP when trying to open past projects... these are projects, mind you, that I use all the time — even weekly.

It takes forever trying to open the project, then eventually says something along the lines of "FCP can't open this project — it may be corrupt or from a newer version of FCP" (slightly paraphrasing, but that's the gist of it).

I've trashed all my FCP prefs and relaunched it, but same deal.

This is serious, as I use these projects for work all the time. Have any of you seen something like this yourself? And, of course, how did you fix it?

Could it be a drive issue? Maybe try duplicating the project and all associated media onto another drive and see if it works. You may need to name the drive the same name as the one it came from, I'm not sure.

In the end, I trashed FCP prefs, rebooted, zapped PRAM, and ran every fix in Disk Utility (repaired permissions, verified and repaired all drives), and then things started to work again.
