I'm not at my work computer right now, and as to why one cam would give you an orange (needs rendering) line, I can't say. But I think if you change your RT playback (click either RT or Dynamic), it will change the orange to either blue or gray, and play without stutter.

Hi Trig,

It's been 2 years I haven't used FCP7, we don't have it installed on any machines anymore. So I'm afraid I won't be of much help with this. But I think David is correct. Set your RT playback to Dynamic and the clips should play correctly.
