FCP7 - "media files not optimized for Final Cut Pro" (June 19, 2015 06:03AM) JavaPop
I still use FCP7 for editing performances, and when filming performances, we run a firewire line from our HDV cameras into our Macbook Pros, and capture via Quicktime 7 using device native setting in prefs.

Not sure why I haven't had this happen before; but I'm getting the attached error when I start new project, and import the captured clips.

Any suggestions for future references? I did use media manager on a previous project, and it looks like it just converted the 1440x1080 files to 1920×1080 files.

In my experience, FCP works best with ProRec encoded mov. What's your move codec, H.264?

I am encoding in the HDV MPEG-2 codec, which is what I capture from the cameras. I typically convert my 6D files to match HDV, and used to do this without this error. It is working now, was just a bit confused on the message.
