FCP7 merge clips with aux 1 tcode

having trouble merging clips - wont seem to recognise timecode loaded onto audio track 1 by sound recordist. when i merge clips it put the video track at one part of the sequence and the audio tracks further along the sequence (equivalent to t/c difference between the 2 diff codes). how do i get FCP7 to read the tcode off tk 1 on video and sync with audio tcode? is there a way of doing it universally for the project as i have 3 cameras and 10 hours of footage? - thanks
