HELP! Clips are out of sequence when imported. Can I Turn This Off.

Is there a way to turn off (when importing) from an HD tape the feature where FCP 7 breaks the whole tape into smaller clips? I just want to batch capture the "whole" HD tape as one large clip (this will avoid problems below also)...

They're also out of sequence...I imported about 30min of HD footage and now I have about 50 clips to deal with which are out of order. I prefer one large clip to drag into the timeline and I can do the edits manually in the timeline where needed...Thanks....
