CLIPS WOULD NOT IMPORT IN X UNTIL.... (November 16, 2015 01:32PM) jrosson
Folks,

We're still catching up on with X -- but think we picked up something that's worth passing along.

We were having an issue (2 instances) where clips would not import.

The first was a GoPro clip (number 3) that will not import on 'CMD I' import process. Nor would dragging and dropping work. Other clips on either side of it numbers 1, 2, and 4, all imported just fine.

The second was a standard shot with our regular camera. The 'CMD I' import function finds the clip in Capture Scratch (we've stuck with the name from legacy) and acts like it has imported. The import window exits normally (squeezing down and disappearing) but the file doesn't show up.

Had half this note written when we found the answer. It seems X doesn't like *** asterisks or !! exclamation points in clip sluglines.

Anyway, there are folks who have googled and long threads with no answers. So this worked for us.

Thank you,
JR

This is not so much related to FCP X, but to OSX. It's a general rule that you never should use special signs in file names. Only characters and numbers, underscores and hyphens.

Best wishes,

Ronny
