Re: Audio Filter Question

Audio Filter Question (January 18, 2016 05:19AM) Tom George
FCP 6.0.6

Transferring audio cassette tapes for a client. Voices good and sometimes low but the issue is what I call
"ambient" noise, not a clear hummmmmm but just air noise. Hope that makes sense. Will any of the Apple or
FCP audio filters be of any help in this instance?

Thanks,

Tom

Just had some luck with this same problem using the FCP Notch filter. Not 100% perfect but much better.
If you have Adobe Creative Cloud, the Audition program is great at removing hum and low room sound. It does it by sampling
the sound and removing it.

Phil,

Does Adobe Creative Cloud work with my version of FCP?

Hi Tom
If this is audio only and you are still using FCP Studio, you are better off using Sound Track Pro. It includes a "Noise" removal tool that can analyze the problematic frequencies and apply notched EQ settings to remove the unwanted sound.
You can also do this using a Channel EQ and analyzer to find them manually and then attenuated within the frequencies.
Miss STP for this reason.
Hope this helps, Greg
