Hello,

In FCP7 when making a marker in the TL you could have a marker on the clip or Timeline. Is there a way
to add a marker to the TimeLine in FCPX?

can't seem to find a way.

Thank You!

Easy, place you playhead at the point that you ant to add a marker. Hit the 'm' key to add a marker. If you hit m twice then you will get an info window to select the type of marker you want, add text or delete.

Yes, thank you. But I can only add a marker to the clip, not to the timeline. This was a feature possible in FCP1-7
Is this possible to do in FCPX?

It works for me in FCP X. Make the timeline active and park the playhead where you want the marker and hit 'm'.

Here's what I can not make happen in FCPX.

I can see the little blue 'marker' just above the clip in your FCP X shot.

Yes. I know I can make a marker on the clip in FCPX. But if you look at my FCP7 image I made a marker on the clip and the timeline. I want to be able to make a marker on the timeline in Final Cut X

I don't know what to tell you. That blue marker that you show in your FCP X screen shot IS A MARKER ON THE TIMELINE.

Ken,

John is referring to the area above the entire timeline (see arrow in first pic), not the individual clips within the timeline (see rectangle). FCP 7 offered both options. FCP X does not. My suggestion would be to contact "Final Cut Pro Feedback" (see rectangle in second pic) and report it. Apple tech people read users' comments and often incorporate them into their app updates.
It's certainly worth a try.
