AVCHD TO FCP7 (January 23, 2017 12:42PM) Margo
I have clips shot in AVCHD. I imported them from a card to my external drive. The card has since been returned to the shooter. I am presently exporting the clips to a .mov format. My question is: once they have finished exporting (which may be sometime next year) can I take them into compression and use the ProRes setting to bring them into FCP?

Sometimes I really want to go back to tape.

Thank you.

That's what you have to do. You've figured it out. Final Cut Pro X converts them over 10 times faster than Compressor, even the latest and greatest version of Compressor is still 10 times slower than FCPX.

Thank you. I love FCP7 but the rendering, the formats - they drive me nuts. And yup - it compressed perfectly.

Thanks again Joe,
Margo
