Is it possible to convert Betamax video tape to a digitized format for editing in FCPX? If so how?

Hi Kent,

It's been a very long time since anyone has digitized from Betamax. Do you have or have access to a Betamax machine?

If you don't, you are going to have to look for a service bureau that can do the job for you and digitize to card for ingest into FCP X.

I do have a Betamax machine. Not sure it still works. Been a long time. Assuming it works what would be the workflow?

You mentioned a" service bureau". Can you recommend one?

Kent,

I have a Betamax machine too but not using FCPX. I have FCP6. I hook up the Betamax to a playback deck that plays VHS and Mini DV tapes and that machine is firewired into my Mac. Using Log and Capture does the job for me.
