Loading to FCP7

Jim
I have a 43min TV video to extract clips for one particular actor for the agency. However I can't load an MPEG which I downloaded and I have no idea how to insert it into FCP7.

I recommend using Final Cut Pro X. Otherwise you'll have to convert it to ProRes4444XQ first with Compressor.

Yes, I figured that, but I'm using FCP7. Thanks anyway.

Hi Jim
There are many 3rd programs out there that can do the conversion like mpeg Streamclip. Streamclip was the go to for easy conversion, but has not be updated lately. Some compatibility issues with latest macOS (EC/Sierra)
Handbrake is another free app that can handle the conversion. Handbrake is finally out of Beta (beta forever) but I have always had good results with it especially when combined with VLC.
Many others out there both free and $$.
Hope this helps, Greg
