AJA KiPro: RealTime SxS Transcode to the HardDrive pack on top?

Can anyone verify for me whether or not the KiPro plays-out realtime
video from a SxS chip recorded in the camera?

In other words, can take and SxS chip recorded in an EXcam
and play the video out as a realtime transcode to Apple ProRes
or is there still an transfer process within the KiPro.
