MPEG Movie - No Sound in FCP

MPEG Movie - No Sound in FCP (September 27, 2009 08:20AM) Tom George
OS 10.4.11, G5, Comp 3.0.2, QT 7.6, FCP 6.0.5.

I have some MPG files from a Sony Cyber-shot still camera. I loaded them into my G5 and they play with sound when I double click on them and play them through the Mac computer. When I import them into FCP and place them on the TL, they are missing the audio tracks. How can I get the audio track to show up in FCP?

Thanks,

Tom

Thanks Ken,

I have Streamclip Ver 1.9.1. When I create a Batch List and import the MPEG files what settings should I use? My FCP TL is NTSC DV 4:3. The default settings in Streamclip show Compression: Apple Motion JPEG A and Frame Size: 640x480(4:3). Are these the correct settings and are there any other settings in that window that I should change?

You want MPEG Streamclip to match your sequence settings as close as possible. Look for DV-NTSC.

Ken,

The closest choice on the list that I found is: Apple DV/DVCPO - NTSC.

Is this the one that I should use for the set-up above?

Tom,

Yes, if you are working in DV.
