Compressor DVD-R (5)

Compressor DVD-R (5) (October 12, 2009 07:32AM) suzana
Hello, so what is the difference from what I have known as the DVD-R and the
DVD-R (5) ? Why is the no 5 there?
Also what is the DVD SP?

Sorry for all the questions but I've recently upgraded from FCP4 to 7 and from Compressor 1 to 3.5 big jump for the changes trying to digest... there's so many options now blue ray, dual layer and options I never had to work with before as I was stuck with an old system since a few weeks ago.

Thanks
Suzana

A DVD 5 disc is a single-sided, single layer disc that holds roughly 4.3gb of data, regardless whether it's a DVD-r or a DVD+R. The + and/or - has nothing to do with the number 5.

A DVD 9 disc is a single-sided, dual layer disc that holds roughly 7.8gb of data, regardless of whether it's a -R or +R disc.
