"Popping" between clips

I have used FCP for years and have run into a "first" for me. In editing a trip video I noticed that many times I would hear a popping noise at the intersection of clips on the timeline. What might be causing this? Is there an audio filter that will take care of the problem. Is there a more technical term for the popping sound?

Clicks between audio cuts are a rare phenomenon that can occur when you edit audio, also in other applications than FCP.

The most adapted solution is to put a 1 frame audio dissolve between the problematic clips.
