FCP HD startup

FCP HD startup (July 29, 2008 11:40AM) cochon
my FCP HD ver. 4.5 has been sitting idle for a couple of years, and now during startup I get the "quit unexpectedly" message
I have an imac G5, OSX 10.4.11, 512 meg memory.
I trashed preferences, safe boot, disk permissions repair, rebuilt w/DiskWarrior, re-installed FCP. Nothing worked.

What version of QT are you running. Newer versions of QT don't play well with older versions of FCP.

FCP 4.5 works best with OS 10.3.9 and QT 6.5.2. You'll also need more RAM. Remember, you need a minimum of 384mb for FCP (512mb recommended) and add to that about 256mb to 380mb for OS 10.3 (more for 10.4). And if you hope to have any other apps open, you'll need RAM for them as well.

Thanks for the info, guys - wondering if upgrading FCP would be an option??

Upgrading is always an option ... but I'd also consider upgarding your Mac as well if you plan to go to FCP 6.
