Any Experiences with: Icy Dock or SansDigital TowerRaid

Looking into these, there is some discussion of heat issues, though claims conflict.

Any real-world experience out there?

Recommendations? Added fans...?

i use 2 sans digital enclosures. One is SATA to USB, the other is IDE to USB.
They are not loud and no over heating. Both are full of drives (500GB and 1TB drives)
They are good for storage and playback of DV material. For HD or HDV you may need the ones that connect via the SATA cable and not USB... not positive of that though..

Good to find that you have had no heat problems. Yes, for lower bitrate HD the USB can work, yet SATA is much quicker and probably less drops in playback.

Kurt, how many drives do you enclosures hold? 4 drives each, more... or fewer?
