Compressor Settings

Compressor Settings (April 19, 2010 11:05AM) kennbass
Hi Ken,

I've been trying to encode a 48 minute video with Compressor, using the 90 minute best encode settings. The audio finishes in a few minutes, but the MPEG encodes for around 4 hours and then I get an error message. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Kenn

Kenn,

Need all your info. What Mac and OS, what version of FCP. What is the source video codec, how are you going to Compressor?

Check you encode destination, is there enough space on the hard drive you are svaing to?

Ken,

It's an iMac, Snow Leopard (no problems with FCP at all!) FCP 6, and I'm exporting to Compressor from FCP. There's plenty of storage on my destination, something like 400 GB. I suppose I could use the QuickTime Movie option and go to DVDSP.

Kenn,

Are you using "Send to Compressor" from FCP? I really need to know.

Please answer this question.

What is the source video codec? What is the codec of the video on your FCP timeline?

Yes, using "Send to Compressor" from FCP. All the clips are DV NTSC.

Try this.

Don't use 'Send to Compressor'

Export from FCP this way.

Select the Sequence in the Browser or in the Timeline, set In and Out points.

File > Export > QT (Not with Conversion). Make Self Contained, Use Current Settings, Do Not Recompress all frames.

Drop the QT export into Compressor.
