FCP to QT to H.263 - Cause & Effect

Hi Ken

The first time I made a QT movie from FCP and ran the QT through COMPRESSOR to make an H.264 movie, the files got bigger than they were as QT.

I tried 4 more projects and the files went down in size.

Today, I made a QT movie that became just over 6 GB. When I ran it through COMPRESSOR as H.264, it came out at over 18 GB in size.

CAUSE & EFFECT

I am confused.

What is real ? Does Compressor with H.264 supposed to make a QT files smaller ?

It seems I cannot predict what will happen. Any workflow suggestions ? I am limited to 5 GB of UPLOADING capacity for VIMEO, and today's result is way over the budget.
