How do I transfer a DVD and YouTube video into FCP

Hi everyone.... first, Happy New Year and may all your editing and technical problems be minor ones.

Even though I have used FCP for years (presently using FCP7), I have never needed to use footage from a DVD that someone has given me as well as footage from a YouTube video on the Internet. It might be simple, or maybe not. To save me possible frustration, I am soliciting a bit of help. So really I have two questions:
1. How do I transfer DVD content into my FCP timeline (standard definition)
2. How do I capture a YouTube video off the Internet and then transfer that content into my FCP timeline (also standard definition)
