How do you fix a still (interlaced) image from pulsing?

Thanks

It really depends on what is making the image "pulsate' when viewed on TV.

Pulsing, flickering, etc. can be caused by the following (not an all-inclusive list):

1. Image resolution may be too large causing what some refer to as "mosquito noise" which often appears as jittering pixels. The fix is reduce the image's pixel resolution to a more suitable size.

2. Thin horizontal lines in the image often cause flickering when viewed on an interlaced display (TV). The fix is to slightly blur the offending parts of the image using the blur tool in Photoshop.

3. Image contains adjacent areas of high contrast which may cause flickering where those areas meet when viewed on a TV. The fix is to reduce the contrast by lowering the brightness level of the highlights and/or increasing the brightness level of the shadow area - or slightly blur the points where the two areas join.

You can also try setting the filed order (dominance) to NONE in FCP for that image or try adding the Gaussian Blur filter with a setting of 0.2 or 0.3.
