General Error (41)

What is "General Error (41)" and where can I find a listing of such errors? I'm trying to fire-up my FCP 5.1 and I get this error message. I'm using a G5 with dual 2.3 Ghz Power PCG5 and 2GB DDR2 SDRAM. My startup disk is 250 gb and I'm operating on OSX 10.4.11.

There is no list of such errors, because any general error can mean a lot of things. For Error 41, here's a grab:

- You have just installed or re-installed FCP and you have not downloaded the latest updates for your version.
- You are trying to open a project that was created on a newer version of FCP.
- You are trying to use the same copy of FCP on two different machines at the same time.
- You have corrupted files in your project - try starting FCP with your media drive disconnected.
- You have one or more corrupted preferences - trash the FCP prefs and try again.
- You have a corrupted project file - can you open other project files ?

Try these for a start and get back here if it still does not work.
