AVCHD to SD DVD

AVCHD to SD DVD (January 02, 2009 02:33PM) eladberger
Hello every one and thank you very much for the great help so far.

I'm need to import, edit and burn to a SD dvd my 1440X1080 AVCHD footage from my Sony TG1 in the quickest way possible.

At the moment my workflow is:
1. Importing from the camera using AIC (Apple intermedia code), coz the file is a bit smaller so every thing is a bit quicker and the quality is good enough to what I'm doing.
2. Editing and rendering with FCP 6.0.5
3. Exporting to QT (File>export>quick time movie)
4. Burning the QT file with Toast making a SD dvd.

Is there a quicker way to do it? Any hardware or software that might speed things up?
When I tried exporting to m2v with compressor using MPEG-2 6.2Mbps 1-pass (thinking to save the exporting to quicktime, and go straight to m2v) it took longer for some reason (??)

Thanks
Elad

HI Elad,

I export as a QT self contained movie. Drip that into Compressors. Move the MPEG 2 and AC3 files into DVD SD, create a dusk image and burn with the Mac Disk Utility.

Are you more interested in speed or quality?

I have articles on all this if you are interested.

Thank you very very much for the quick reply!

I'm interested more in the speed.

I have been doing what you suggested but I need it a bit quicker, that's why I thought by sending it from FCP straight to compressors and MPEG2, will save me the time that it takes to make the QT contained file, but it actually took longer doing it this way?!

And yes please, I'm very interested in the Articles.

thanks again

Elad
