avi files

avi files (January 26, 2009 06:58AM) johnr
Hi There,

I am not able to get avi files to play on my Mac...have been using Handbrake to convert them to mpegs...trying to burn them to DVD and maintain the quality of the original avi files...any suggestions of what would be the best way to do this.

Hi Johnr,

If your goal is to make a new DVD, take your MPEG2 export (plus audio) from Handbrake and drop it into DVD SP.

Hi Ken,

When you say drop into DVD SP, could you clarify...is that different than IDVD...

Thanks

iDVD will not accept Mpeg 2 encoded files. If you want to use iDVD you'll have to Handbrake the video to QT.

Hi Ken,

I would be interested in DVD SP...where do we find this option, is that within FCP, stand alone or is it part of Handbrake...thanks johnr

Then look in your Applications folder, DVD SP will be in there.

Do the avi files play ok on a pc? if so, use the pc to export a file that will be suitable for mac.
