Motion templates and HD footage...

Every wedding I edit I tend to use the PANES template in Motion to intro the video- easy to set drop frames and looks nice. Lately, I am getting HDV footage from clients and wanted to still use PANES template in Motion nut alas, it is NOT 16:9. Is there any way to adjust this template to properly use it with my HD footage? I have used it, but the footage in the drop zones are letterboxed as is the entire PANES sequence. Any suggestions?
