Re: Flickering/Pulsing Images

I'm working on a project that has a series of images in the video. Most of them work fine when I zoom-in or zoom-out on the image. However, some will flicker or pulsate. I try resizing them down to 720x480, flicker filters, de-interlace, changing them from JPEG to TIFFS, etc. I can't make it go away. If I don't zoom in, etc., I don't have the trouble.

Could it be the image? Some our old newspapers that have been color copied, and then scanned in either as a JPEG or TIFF.

Any help would be appreciated.

Where are you seeing this flicker, in the Canvas or on a NTSC monitor? If you are working in the Canvas, set the Canvas to 100%.

It was at 66% - I changed to 100% and I still get a flicker, pulsating (some have horizontal lines) on both the Canvas and NTSC monitor.

AGAIN - not all of the images, just some cases.

Okay, put it back to 'fit to window'.

Try nudging the image up in the Canvas by one or two pixels.

Is this just happening with pictures scanned from newspapers?

I tried nudging up/down in the scale - with the same result.

And, yes mainly old images like newspapers/documents that were color copied.

But, this will also happen with some photos I have.

I ended up making a freezeframe of the image - copying into a new project - and the flicker went away.

I have no reason why.

But, it works!
