camera going offline

Hi
We are capturing off a Canon XLH1. Using Mac Pro FCP6. After capturing 2 tapes, FCP fails to see the camera. Any ideas guys? Have reset the capture devices, restarted etc etc. Many thanks for any advice....
Just tried something..........
The above happened while opening the project (saved) from the desktop....
When i opened FCP from the dock, it saw the camera immediately.....
weird, any ideas.
