How do I stop FCP from "writing video files" !

Hello Again,
When I leave my system on and my project up, when I return, FCP is "writing video files" which is taking up alot of harddrive space.
Why is it doing this and is there any setting to change in order to stop this process?

Are you talking about 'auto render'?

User Prefs > General tab > Auto Render. Uncheck.
