Re: Effects fail to render - anyone?

Hi,
A lot of effects in FCP suddenly seem to fail to render. Even a simple colour matte won't render properly.
I get a red glare over the clip showing the fail to render - message. This did not occur before and got me very surprised.
In several forums on the net people say it might have something to do with having two screens and restarting with just one screen does the trick but what kind of a solution is that?


I tried to look for an answer elsewhere since I found no topic about this subject over here but I couldn't get a good solution.
Maybe someone here knows more.

FCP 5.1.4
Mac OSX 10.5.3, 2x 3GHz dual core intel xeon
8 Gb DDR, Nvidia Geforce 7300 GT

Hi Jasper,

1. Do you have any other video card inside your Mac, besides the 7300 ?
2. Do you have more than 1 computer monitor connected to your card ?

Glad you found it! I was just going to give you this same workaround.

We have had the issue on two of our machines since yesterday, after doing some updates. We have done the same thing to solve it. Only, I'm not sure if this is a permanent solution. This definitely is a bug and let's hope it doesn't happen again.
