Re: Effects like dissolve will not insert

When I drag effects like dissolves into the timeline they don't insert. They simply disappear. What's up with that?

Not sure I understand. The shots on both sides are quite long.

Just tried shutting down the program. Reopened it. Sill, cross dissolves will insert at the very beginning of the program but not between shots.

My guess is that you do not have handles on your clips sufficient to allow the addition of a transition. Double click your clip in the browser to bring it to your viewer. Set an 'in' and 'out' point in the viewer that is at least 30 frames from the very beginning and end of the clip. Bring the clip to the timeline. Repeat all with a 2nd clip, do it the same way.
Now apply the transition between clips and all should be ok
