Re: HD monitoring

Long time FCP SD editor- just easing into HD. I use a G5 dual 2.5G, pre Intel, with 2 flat screen monitors. I am looking for a cost efficient way to monitor the HD timeline. My first guess is an additional flat screen monitor and some kind of card in the G5 to send a signal to it. Am I even close?

This looks like a good solution but out of my price range. Are there other options? Some of the folks that I know that work in HD just edit on a laptop and they all say that is good enough. I would like to take monitoring farther than that, but I don't have a grand to spend right now. However, if the HD end of my jobs takes off, this looks like a great way to go. Right now I'm just bidding on a couple of HD jobs, so I don't want to dive in so deeply just yet.

Did you know that the MXO2 can not used your ACD as a broadcast monitor?
