animating a still

I just don't get it. I want to do a move on a still pic (panning), and zooming at the same time. I won't bore you with details on what I've already tried. I just want to start the move on the first frame and zoom to a different spot. Anyone have a short course in animating a still? The manual isn't much help.
Thanks,
DD
Set a keyframe at the beginning of the clip, still or otherwise, move the playhead to the end of the clip and adjust the position to where you want it to be. A new keyframe will automatically be made. You can do this with as many motion parameters as you need to get the effect you want.

Actually, I did read - a lot- about keyframing in the manual. That's why I had to post here... the manual(s) are mostly about telling you what FCP CAN do, and not a lot about HOW to do it.
