MPEG-2 compressor for FCP 3.0.4

MPEG-2 compressor for FCP 3.0.4 (July 18, 2008 03:46AM) chipshot
Hi folks,
Does anyone know how I can convert QT files to MPEG-2 using this old version of FCP? The included MPEG-2 coversion option is a demo and hasn't worked completely. Thanks

If you're running FCP 3 up to 4.5, your QuickTime version should be absolutely no higher than 6.5.2. The MPEG-2 codec included with QuickTime Pro/Final Cut Pro allowed for MPEG-2 encoding via QuickTime and was NOT a demo. If you've upgraded QT beyond 6.5.2, you have most likely lost the encoding ability and will need to do on of the following:

A. Reformat your boot drive and completely reinstall your system software (up to OS 10.3.9) and QuickTime (up to 6.5.2. Then install the applications, including FCP 3. and update through FCP 3.0.4.

- OR -

B. Upgrade your OS and QT and FCP to the current versions and use Compressor to do the encoding.

- OR -

C. Export a self-contained movie from FCP and use iMovie or Toast to do the encoding.
