Archiving

From what I've read, archiving to tape is still the best way archive a project long term (event video). Assuming this is true, this begs the question, which tape (brand, MQ, PQ, consumer, etc., etc.) is best for such purpose? Will the Sony consumer miniDV tape ($2.50) work as well as the Sony miniDVCAM tape?
