Final Output for Storage

Final Output for Storage (August 07, 2008 12:41PM) Ash
Editing mainly with DV and HDV exporting 4- 6 minute clips for web as H264 - roughly 22MB files- I wanted to store the best quality version of these clips on a data DVD for future use for showreels etc - so i can delete all the stuff of my lacie external hard drive. I was wondering what the highest quality export would be that I could do but keep the QT file under 4.7GB to fit on data DVD. Any help would be most appreciated.

The best way to have the highest quality is to export this way.

Select the Sequence in the Browser or in the Timeline, set In and Out points.

File > Export > QT (Not with Conversion). Make Self Contained, Use Current Settings, Do Not Recompress all frames.

This will give you an exact and perfect clone of your project. If you start reducing the size of the file, then you are to have to compress which costs quality.

You can export several different sections from your timeline to fit each section of a DVD.

You also might want to consider printing back to tape for archive purposes. Zero hard disk space and zero quality loss.
