Re: HDV jerky clips

HDV jerky clips (August 08, 2008 01:16AM) jsunday3
I'm editing for the first time in HDV. We shot with the Panasonic HVX in 720 at 24p. As I was working on the timeline, I noticed that some of the clips were jerky while other played at "full res". I thought this was because the files were so large and that this would be reconciled once I output. The video is only 5 minutes long.

Not so much! I just burned a DVD using compressor and the jerky clips are still jerky. I am running the project off an external Lacie 200 Gb drive. Could that be the problem? Should I run it off the Mac's hard drive?

The sequence settings should match, as we imported footage from a firestore and FCP recognized the settings.

Mac OS X 10.4.10, 2x2.66 GHz Dual Core Intel Xeon, 2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM, Final Cut Pro 5.1.4, Sequence settings HD 960x720, 16:9, DVCPRO HD 720p60, 23.98.

Any help would be great!

John

I've shot my last three projects in 24p SD - so that's not likely the problem. My DP is very experienced, so that's probably not the problem. Thanks for your input.

Got it. My intern had set the sequence to 24p. It should have been 60. All better.

Thanks!
